Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground beef (85% lean)
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.75 cup Milk
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 cup Ketchup (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon Yellow mustard (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands or a large spoon until just combined. Avoid overmixing, as this can make the meat loaf dense.

Step 3

Transfer the meat mixture to the prepared loaf pan and shape it into an even loaf. Smooth the top with a spatula.

Step 4

In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and yellow mustard to make the glaze. Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meat loaf.

Step 5

Bake in the preheated oven for 55–60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.

Step 6

Once cooked, let the meat loaf rest in the pan for 10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain its juices and make slicing easier.

Step 7

Slice and serve warm with your favorite sides, like mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables.
