Ingredients

  • 6 whole Granny Smith apples
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup Rolled oats
  • 0.75 cup All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup Brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 2

Peel, core, and slice the Granny Smith apples into 1/4-inch thick slices and transfer them to a large mixing bowl.

Step 3

Add granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and lemon juice to the apples. Toss well to coat evenly, then spread the apples in the prepared baking dish.

Step 4

In another mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, and the remaining 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Add the salt and stir until evenly mixed.

Step 5

Cut the unsalted butter into small cubes and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to mix it into the oat mixture until it forms a crumbly texture.

Step 6

Stir the vanilla extract into the crumble mixture and evenly sprinkle it over the apples in the baking dish.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender.

Step 8

Allow the apple crunch to cool slightly for about 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
