Ingredients

  • 4 cups Canned baked beans
  • 0.5 cups Brown sugar
  • 0.25 cups Ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 4 slices Bacon strips
  • 1 medium Onion, diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a large skillet, cook the bacon slices over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and place it on a paper towel to drain excess grease. Crumble the cooked bacon and set aside.

Step 3

In the same skillet, using the leftover bacon grease, sauté the diced onion until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

Step 4

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant. Remove the skillet from heat.

Step 5

In a large mixing bowl, combine the baked beans, brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, apple cider vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Step 6

Add the sautéed onions and garlic to the bean mixture and stir until evenly incorporated.

Step 7

Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Spread it evenly with a spatula.

Step 8

Sprinkle the crumbled bacon evenly over the top of the beans.

Step 9

Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the beans are bubbling and the top is slightly caramelized.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Enjoy Mo Nique’s Baked Beans as a stand-alone dish or a perfect side to BBQ favorites!
