Ingredients

  • 6 bars (full-size, approximately 2.05 oz each) Milky Way candy bars
  • 1.5 cups (3 sticks) Unsalted butter
  • 2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 4 pieces Large eggs
  • 2.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1.25 cups Buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Heavy cream

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C) and grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.

Step 2

In a saucepan set over low heat, melt 2 Milky Way candy bars along with 1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter, stirring constantly until smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the remaining 1 cup (2 sticks) of butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 4

Add the eggs one at a time to the butter and sugar mixture, beating well after each addition.

Step 5

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking soda.

Step 6

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix just until combined.

Step 7

Stir in the melted candy bar and butter mixture, along with the vanilla extract, until the batter is smooth and evenly mixed.

Step 8

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Step 10

Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.

Step 11

For the frosting, melt the remaining 4 Milky Way candy bars along with the heavy cream and powdered sugar in a saucepan over low heat. Stir constantly until smooth and glossy.

Step 12

Pour the frosting evenly over the cooled cake, spreading it out gently with a spatula.

Step 13

Let the frosting set for 15-20 minutes before slicing and serving.
