Ingredients

  • 4 pieces minute steaks
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 medium (sliced thinly) yellow onion
  • 8 ounces (sliced) cremini mushrooms
  • 2 cloves (minced) garlic
  • 0.5 cup dry white wine
  • 2 tablespoons (chopped, for garnish) fresh parsley

Directions

Step 1

Season both sides of the minute steaks with salt and black pepper. Set aside.

Step 2

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 3

Once the skillet is hot, sear the minute steaks for about 1 minute per side, or until browned. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside on a plate.

Step 4

Reduce the heat to medium and add the remaining olive oil and butter to the skillet.

Step 5

Add the sliced onions to the skillet and sauté for 2-3 minutes, allowing them to soften slightly.

Step 6

Stir in the sliced mushrooms and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are golden and tender.

Step 7

Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, stirring constantly to avoid burning.

Step 8

Pour the white wine into the skillet and deglaze by scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let the wine simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.

Step 9

Return the minute steaks to the skillet, nestling them into the onion and mushroom mixture. Cook for 1-2 more minutes to warm through.

Step 10

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning with additional salt or pepper if needed.

Step 11

Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately. This dish pairs well with mashed potatoes, rice, or a side salad.
