Ingredients

  • 6 pieces Flour tortillas (small, about 6 inches)
  • 2 cups Shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (optional, for cooking)
  • 0.5 cups Salsa (optional, for serving)
  • 0.5 cups Sour cream (optional, for serving)
  • 2 tablespoons Cilantro (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.

Step 2

If using butter, lightly spread a thin layer on one side of each tortilla to enhance flavor and crispiness.

Step 3

Place one tortilla in the hot skillet, buttered side down if butter is used, and sprinkle an even layer of shredded cheese (about 1/3 cup) over half of the tortilla.

Step 4

Fold the tortilla in half, pressing gently to seal the cheese inside.

Step 5

Cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until the tortilla is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted. Adjust the heat if necessary to prevent burning.

Step 6

Remove the quesadilla from the skillet and repeat with the remaining tortillas and cheese.

Step 7

Once all the quesadillas are cooked, use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to slice each one into 3-4 mini wedges.

Step 8

Serve warm with salsa, sour cream, and a sprinkle of chopped cilantro if desired.
