Ingredients

  • 450 grams fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Wash the green beans thoroughly and trim the ends.

Step 2

Bring a large pot of water to a boil, then blanch the green beans for 2 minutes. Immediately transfer them to an ice water bath to stop the cooking process. Drain and set aside.

Step 3

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

Step 4

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 30 seconds, stirring constantly to avoid burning.

Step 5

Add the blanched green beans to the skillet. Stir well to coat the beans in the garlic and oil.

Step 6

Season the green beans with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beans are tender but still crisp.

Step 7

Drizzle the lemon juice over the green beans and toss to combine.

Step 8

Remove from heat and serve warm as a side dish to complement any main course.
