Ingredients

  • 200 grams Raisins
  • 200 grams Currants
  • 100 grams Mixed candied peel
  • 120 milliliters Brandy
  • 150 grams Dark brown sugar
  • 100 grams Unsalted butter
  • 1 large Green apple (peeled, cored, and grated)
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cloves
  • 1 orange Zest of orange
  • 1 lemon Zest of lemon
  • 60 milliliters Orange juice
  • 30 milliliters Lemon juice
  • 100 grams Blanched almonds (chopped)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

Combine raisins, currants, and mixed candied peel in a large mixing bowl.

Step 2

Pour the brandy over the mixture, stir, and let it soak for at least 15 minutes to plump the fruit.

Step 3

In the meantime, peel, core, and grate the green apple, then set it aside.

Step 4

In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
