Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1 unit small onion, diced
  • 3 units garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 unit green bell pepper, diced
  • 14.5 ounces diced tomatoes (with liquid)
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.5 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for garnish)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until browned and no longer pink. Drain excess fat if needed.

Step 2

Add the diced onion, garlic, and green bell pepper to the pot with the browned beef. Sauté for 3-5 minutes, or until the vegetables soften and become fragrant.

Step 3

Stir in the diced tomatoes (with liquid), tomato sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.

Step 4

Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10 minutes.

Step 5

Stir in the elbow macaroni. Cover the pot and cook on low heat for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and has absorbed much of the liquid.

Step 6

Taste and adjust seasonings if needed, adding more salt or spices to preference.

Step 7

Remove from heat and let the goulash rest for 5 minutes to thicken slightly.

Step 8

Serve hot, optionally topped with shredded cheddar cheese and a sprinkle of fresh parsley for garnish.
