Ingredients

  • 4 cups canned baked beans
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 0.5 cups brown sugar
  • 0.25 cups ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until it is crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet, drain on paper towels, and crumble. Set aside.

Step 3

In the same skillet, using the leftover bacon grease, sauté the diced onion until it is softened and translucent, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the baked beans, cooked onion, brown sugar, ketchup, yellow mustard, molasses, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

Step 5

Transfer the bean mixture into a 9x13-inch baking dish or similar oven-safe dish. Spread it out evenly.

Step 6

Sprinkle the crumbled bacon evenly over the top of the bean mixture.

Step 7

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.

Step 8

After 45 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, or until the beans are bubbling and the top is caramelized.

Step 9

Remove the beans from the oven and let them cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

Step 10

Serve the baked beans as a side dish with your favorite meal, and enjoy!
