Ingredients

  • 6 cups Fresh peaches
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoons Ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup Salted butter
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Peel and slice the peaches into thin wedges. If using frozen peaches, thaw them completely, and if using canned peaches, drain them well.

Step 3

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the peaches, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Stir gently to mix.

Step 4

Cook the peach mixture for 5-7 minutes until the juices thicken slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 5

Slice the butter and melt it in a 9x13-inch baking dish by placing the dish in the preheated oven for a few minutes. Keep an eye on it to ensure the butter doesn't burn.

Step 6

In a large mixing bowl, combine the remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir until evenly mixed.

Step 7

Gradually add milk to the dry ingredients, stirring until a smooth batter forms.

Step 8

Carefully remove the baking dish with melted butter from the oven. Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter, but do not stir.

Step 9

Spoon the cooked peach mixture evenly over the batter. Again, do not stir. The batter will rise around the fruit during baking.

Step 10

Bake the cobbler in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the topping comes out clean.

Step 11

Remove from the oven and let the cobbler cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.

Step 12

Serve warm, optionally topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for added indulgence.
