Ingredients

  • 1.75 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cups Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.75 cups Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cups Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups Light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Pure vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 pinch Optional flaky sea salt for topping

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

Step 2

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, use a hand mixer or stand mixer to cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

Step 4

Add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the pure vanilla extract.

Step 5

Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 6

Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Step 7

Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers look slightly underbaked. This ensures a soft and chewy texture.

Step 9

Optional: As soon as the cookies come out of the oven, sprinkle a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt on top of each cookie for a gourmet touch.

Step 10

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 11

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or freeze for longer storage.
