Ingredients

  • 1 pound Lump crab meat
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 medium (finely diced) Yellow onion
  • 2 (finely diced) Celery stalks
  • 2 (minced) Garlic cloves
  • 1.5 cups Breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons (chopped) Fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.25 cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 1 (beaten) Egg
  • 0.25 cup (optional) Grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish and set aside.

Step 2

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onions and celery, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Step 3

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant. Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the lump crab meat, cooked vegetable mixture, breadcrumbs, parsley, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently to avoid breaking up the crab meat.

Step 5

In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, lemon juice, and beaten egg. Pour this mixture into the crab mixture and gently fold until everything is evenly combined.

Step 6

If using, fold in the grated Parmesan cheese for an extra layer of flavor.

Step 7

Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the stuffing is heated through.

Step 9

Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with additional chopped parsley, if desired.

Step 10

Serve as a side dish, or use as a stuffing for seafood like baked fish or stuffed mushrooms.
