Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds Ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 6 slices Cheddar cheese slices
  • 6 pieces Potato burger buns
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cups Ketchup
  • 0.25 cups Mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Yellow mustard
  • 0.5 cups Pickles (sliced)
  • 6 pieces Lettuce leaves
  • 1 large Tomato (sliced)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the beef tender.

Step 2

Divide the seasoned beef into 6 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 1/2 inch thick. Press a small indent into the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Once hot, lightly grease the surface with a small amount of butter or oil.

Step 4

Cook the burger patties for 3-4 minutes on the first side, until nicely browned. Flip them carefully and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the second side.

Step 5

Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking. Cover the skillet with a lid to let the cheese melt completely.

Step 6

Toast the potato burger buns by spreading the cut sides with butter and placing them face down on a hot skillet or griddle. Toast for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers. Spread a generous layer of ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard on the bottom half of each toasted bun.

Step 8

Place a lettuce leaf on top of the condiments, followed by a cheesy burger patty. Add a slice of tomato, a few pickle slices, and then the top half of the bun.

Step 9

Serve immediately with napkins on hand, as these burgers are delightfully messy!
