Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat)
  • 1.5 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1 tsp Freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 cups Citrus slaw mix (store-bought or homemade)
  • 0.25 cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Lime juice
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 1 Jalapeño, finely chopped
  • 4 Brioche burger buns
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 4 Pepper Jack cheese slices
  • 1 Avocado, sliced

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with 1 teaspoon of kosher salt and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Mix gently, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Step 3

Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty approximately 3/4-inch thick. Use your thumb to make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Step 4

In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, lime juice, honey, and a pinch of kosher salt. Stir in the chopped jalapeño and set the citrus slaw dressing aside.

Step 5

In a separate bowl, toss the citrus slaw mix with the prepared dressing until evenly coated. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Step 6

Butter the insides of the brioche buns and toast them lightly on the grill or a skillet until golden brown. Set aside.

Step 7

Grill the burger patties on one side for 3-4 minutes, then flip. Top each patty with a slice of Pepper Jack cheese and continue grilling for another 3-4 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F for a medium burger.

Step 8

To assemble the Miami Burger, place the grilled patty with melted cheese on the bottom half of the brioche bun. Add a layer of sliced avocado, followed by a generous scoop of citrus slaw.

Step 9

Top the burger with the other half of the brioche bun and serve immediately. Enjoy!
