Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef (80% lean)
  • 0.5 lb Ground pork
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 0.25 cup Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 Eggs
  • 0.25 cup Milk
  • 1.5 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp Dried oregano
  • 0.5 tsp Crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 3 cups Marinara sauce

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, and chopped parsley.

Step 2

In a separate small bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes.

Step 3

Pour the egg mixture into the meat mixture and use your hands to gently combine until all ingredients are evenly distributed. Do not overmix to keep the meatballs tender.

Step 4

Form the mixture into balls, approximately 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a plate or tray.

Step 5

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the meatballs in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.

Step 6

Cook the meatballs for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until they are browned. They do not need to be fully cooked at this stage.

Step 7

Remove the browned meatballs from the skillet and set them aside on a plate.

Step 8

In the same skillet, pour in the marinara sauce and bring it to a simmer over medium heat.

Step 9

Add the browned meatballs to the marinara sauce, ensuring they are fully submerged.

Step 10

Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the flavors have melded together.

Step 11

Serve the meatballs hot over pasta, on a sub sandwich, or as a standalone dish with some crusty bread.
