  • 4 large ripe tomatoes

  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Directions

Step 1

Prepare the tomatoes by blanching them: Bring a pot of water to a boil, score a small 'X' on the bottom of each tomato, and immerse them in the boiling water for about 30 seconds. Immediately transfer to a bowl of ice water.

Peel the tomatoes starting from the scored 'X', remove the seeds, and chop the flesh into small pieces.
