Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 500 grams Ground turkey or lean ground pork
  • 100 grams Sun-dried tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 100 grams Feta cheese, crumbled
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh oregano, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • 2 Whole wheat puff pastry sheets
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame seeds

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Step 2

Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until softened and golden, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey or pork, sun-dried tomatoes, feta cheese, chopped parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add the cooled onion and garlic mixture and mix thoroughly with your hands or a spatula until well combined.

Step 4

Roll out the whole wheat puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface to smooth out any creases. Cut each sheet into two rectangular strips.

Step 5

Place a quarter of the meat mixture along one long edge of each pastry strip. Brush the opposite edge with beaten egg.

Step 6

Carefully roll the pastry over the meat filling, pressing the egg-brushed edge to seal the roll. Repeat with the remaining strips.

Cut each long roll into smaller bite-sized pieces, approximately 4-5 cm (1.5-2 inches) each. Place them seam-side down on the prepared baking tray.

Brush the tops of the rolls with the remaining beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds for added flavor and crunch.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the filling is cooked through.
