Ingredients

  • 300 grams whole wheat flour
  • 180 ml water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 250 grams lean ground turkey
  • 1 medium, finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves, minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons, finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon, finely chopped fresh dill
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 50 grams, crumbled feta cheese
  • 3 tablespoons, for frying extra virgin olive oil

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt.

Step 2

Gradually add water to the flour mixture while stirring, then add 2 tablespoons of olive oil.

Step 3

Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Step 4

Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.

Step 5

In another bowl, mix ground turkey, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, dill, and black pepper.

Step 6

Add the crumbled feta cheese to the turkey mixture and mix well to combine.

Divide the rested dough into 8 equal parts and roll each piece into a thin circle about 15 cm in diameter.

Place an equal portion of the turkey filling on one side of each dough circle.

Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape and press the edges firmly to seal.

Heat 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Remove chebureks from the skillet and drain excess oil on paper towels.
