Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 0.5 cup, finely chopped red onion
  • 0.25 cup, chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 minced garlic clove
  • 0.25 cup, crumbled feta cheese
  • 4 pieces whole wheat burger buns
  • 1 cup baby spinach leaves
  • 1 sliced tomato
  • 0.5 sliced cucumber
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon, dried oregano
  • 1 for garnish lemon wedge
  • 1 sliced avocado
  • 0.25 cup homemade BBQ sauce

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, red onion, parsley, minced garlic, feta cheese, salt, pepper, and oregano. Mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Step 3

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty approximately 3/4 inch thick.

Step 4

Lightly brush each patty with olive oil to prevent sticking and enhance grilling.

Step 5

Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the patties are nicely charred.

Step 6

During the last minute of cooking, toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill, cut side down, until golden brown.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers by placing a handful of baby spinach leaves on the bottom half of each bun.

Step 8

Add a cooked turkey patty on top, followed by a spoonful of homemade BBQ sauce, a couple of slices of tomato, cucumber, and avocado.

Step 9

Top each with the top half of the toasted bun.

Step 10

Serve immediately with a lemon wedge on the side for an optional citrus squeeze to brighten the flavors.
