Ingredients

  • 500 grams lean ground beef
  • 1 sheet whole wheat puff pastry
  • 75 grams feta cheese, crumbled
  • 100 grams spinach, wilted and chopped
  • 50 grams sun-dried tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh oregano, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped red onion and garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent.

Step 3

Add the ground beef to the skillet, cooking until it is browned. Season with salt and black pepper.

Step 4

Stir in the crumbled feta cheese, chopped spinach, and sun-dried tomatoes, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.

Step 5

In a large bowl, combine the beef mixture with parsley, oregano, and the egg. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Step 6

Roll out the whole wheat puff pastry on a floured surface. Spoon the beef mixture along one edge of the pastry sheet, leaving an inch of border.

Gently roll the pastry over the beef mixture, sealing the edge by pressing down firmly. Cut the roll into approximately 8 equal sections.

Place the rolls seam side down on the prepared baking tray.

In a small bowl, whisk the egg yolk with water and brush the tops of the rolls with this egg wash. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top.
