Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 0.5 pounds ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 medium, finely chopped yellow onion
  • 2 cloves, minced garlic
  • 0.5 cup raisins
  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 cup ketchup (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes to allow the breadcrumbs to absorb the liquid.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, soaked breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, raisins, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.

Step 4

Using clean hands or a spatula, mix the ingredients just until combined. Avoid overmixing to prevent the meatloaf from becoming dense.

Step 5

Transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf pan, pressing it down gently to create an even shape.

Step 6

In a separate bowl, prepare the glaze by mixing the ketchup, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

Step 7

Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 55-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 8

Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain its juices and keeps it moist.

Step 9

Slice the meatloaf and serve it warm with your favorite side dishes such as mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
