Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (for garnish)
  • 4 fresh lemon wedges (optional)
  • 1 cup fresh berries (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place a 10-inch cast-iron skillet (or oven-proof pan) in the oven to heat while you prepare the batter.

Step 2

In a blender, combine the eggs, milk, flour, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Blend on high speed for 20–30 seconds until the batter is smooth and frothy. Let the batter rest for 5 minutes.

Step 3

Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven using oven mitts. Add the unsalted butter to the skillet and swirl it around until fully melted, coating the bottom and sides of the pan.

Step 4

Quickly pour the prepared batter into the skillet, ensuring the butter remains spread evenly.

Step 5

Place the skillet back in the oven and bake for 20–25 minutes or until the Dutch Baby is puffed up around the edges and golden brown.

Step 6

Remove the skillet from the oven and allow the Dutch Baby to cool slightly—it will deflate as it rests.

Step 7

Dust the top with powdered sugar and serve with fresh lemon wedges or fresh berries, if desired.
