Ingredients

  • 500 g Ground beef
  • 250 g Ground pork
  • 100 g Breadcrumbs
  • 50 g Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 60 ml Milk
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 500 ml Tomato sauce
  • 10 g Fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 120 ml Water
  • 1 tsp Sugar

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, milk, egg, garlic, onion, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix well with your hands or a spoon until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Step 2

Shape the mixture into small balls, roughly 1.5 inches in diameter. You should get about 20-24 meatballs.

Step 3

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the meatballs in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Sear the meatballs on all sides until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes per batch. Remove the browned meatballs from the skillet and set them aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, pour in the tomato sauce, water, and sugar, stirring to combine. Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat.

Step 5

Carefully return the meatballs to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let the meatballs simmer in the sauce for 20-25 minutes, or until they are fully cooked through.

Step 6

Stir the fresh basil into the sauce during the last 5 minutes of cooking.

Step 7

Serve the meatballs hot, either on their own, over pasta, or with a side of crusty bread to soak up the sauce. Enjoy!
