Ingredients

  • 250 grams Paneer
  • 1 cup Green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 large Onion
  • 2 medium Tomatoes
  • 3 units Garlic cloves
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 1 unit Green chili
  • 0.5 teaspoons Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoons Red chili powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoons Garam masala
  • 1 teaspoons Cumin seeds
  • 2 tablespoons Heavy cream (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Oil or ghee
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro leaves
  • 1 teaspoons Salt

Directions

Step 1

Cut the paneer into small cubes and set aside.

Step 2

Finely chop the onion, tomatoes, garlic, ginger, and green chili.

Step 3

Heat oil or ghee in a large pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and sauté until they begin to sizzle and release their aroma.

Step 4

Add the chopped onions and cook until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 5

Add garlic, ginger, and green chili. Sauté for 1-2 minutes or until fragrant.

Step 6

Stir in the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes break down and form a thick paste.

Step 7

Add the green peas and 1 cup of water to the pan. Stir well, cover, and simmer for 5 minutes.

Step 8

Add the paneer cubes and garam masala. Stir gently to coat the paneer in the gravy.

Step 9

Simmer the curry for another 5-7 minutes, allowing the paneer to absorb the flavors.

Step 10

If using heavy cream, stir it in at the end for a richer texture.

Step 11

Season with salt to taste and garnish with fresh cilantro leaves.

Step 12

Serve hot with naan, roti, or steamed basmati rice.
