Ingredients

  • 750 ml vodka (quality but not top-shelf)
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 10 leaves fresh mint leaves
  • 1 strip lemon peel (zest only, no pith)
  • 5 pieces whole black peppercorns
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for sweetness)

Directions

Step 1

Thoroughly wash all fresh ingredients, including strawberries, mint leaves, and the lemon. Pat them dry with a clean towel.

Step 2

Carefully peel the lemon using a vegetable peeler, making sure to avoid the bitter white pith. Set the lemon peel aside.

Step 3

In a clean 1-liter glass jar or bottle with a secure lid, combine the sliced strawberries, mint leaves, lemon peel, and peppercorns.

Step 4

Pour the vodka into the jar, making sure all ingredients are fully submerged. If desired, add 1 tablespoon of honey to sweeten the infusion.

Step 5

Seal the jar tightly and gently shake it to mix the ingredients.

Step 6

Store the jar in a cool, dark place for 3–5 days, shaking it gently once or twice a day to redistribute flavors.

Step 7

After 3 days, taste the infusion. If the flavor is to your liking, proceed to the next step; otherwise, let it infuse for up to 2 additional days.

Step 8

Once the desired flavor is achieved, strain the vodka through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean glass bottle or jar. Discard the solid ingredients.

Step 9

Seal the infused vodka in an airtight container and store it in the freezer or refrigerator. It can be enjoyed straight, on the rocks, or as a base for cocktails.

Step 10

Serve and enjoy responsibly!
