Ingredients

  • 200 grams all-purpose flour
  • 115 grams unsalted butter, softened
  • 100 grams granulated sugar
  • 50 grams brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons matcha green tea powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 unit large egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, matcha green tea powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes using a hand or stand mixer.

Step 4

Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and beat until well incorporated.

Step 5

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until a dough forms.

Step 6

Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, portion out the dough into 24 evenly sized balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 7

Flatten each dough ball slightly with the bottom of a glass or your palm to make an even surface.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the cookies no longer look wet in the center.

Step 9

Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 10

Optional: Dust the cooled cookies lightly with powdered sugar for extra sweetness and visual appeal.
