Ingredients

  • 4 large Sweet potatoes
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 0.5 cups Heavy cream
  • 0.25 cups Marsala wine
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Ground black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into large chunks about 2 inches in size.

Step 2

Place the sweet potatoes into a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt to the water.

Step 3

Bring the pot to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to medium and let the potatoes simmer until they are fork-tender, about 15–20 minutes.

Step 4

Drain the sweet potatoes and return them to the pot.

Step 5

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the heavy cream and Marsala wine, and heat gently until warm (do not let it boil).

Step 6

Pour the butter, cream, and Marsala mixture over the sweet potatoes in the pot. Add the teaspoon of salt, ground black pepper, and cinnamon.

Step 7

Using a potato masher or an electric mixer, mash the sweet potatoes until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Step 8

Transfer the mashed sweet potatoes to a serving dish. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.

Step 9

Serve warm and enjoy!
