Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 cups Unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 0.75 cups Milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons Turbinado sugar (optional, for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3

Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs with some pea-sized pieces of butter remaining.

Step 4

In a small bowl or liquid measuring cup, combine the milk and vanilla extract.

Step 5

Gradually pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently with a fork or spatula until the dough just comes together. Avoid overmixing.

Step 6

Using a large spoon or ice cream scoop, drop mounds of dough (about 2-3 tablespoons each) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 7

If desired, sprinkle the tops of the biscuits with turbinado sugar for added crunch and sweetness.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top and cooked through.

Step 9

Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool slightly.

Step 10

Serve warm with butter, jam, or honey. Enjoy!
