Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 0.5 pound Sweet Italian sausage
  • 24 ounces Marinara sauce
  • 9 pieces Lasagna noodles
  • 15 ounces Ricotta cheese
  • 1 Egg
  • 0.5 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain the excess grease.

Step 3

Add the marinara sauce to the meat mixture, stir to combine, and let it simmer on low heat for 5 minutes.

Step 4

Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set them aside on a clean plate or parchment paper to prevent sticking.

Step 5

In a medium bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, salt, and ground black pepper until well blended.

Step 6

Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 7

Place three lasagna noodles on top of the sauce to create the first layer.

Step 8

Spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture evenly over the noodles, followed by 1/3 of the shredded mozzarella, and then 1/3 of the meat sauce.

Step 9

Repeat the layering process two more times (noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, meat sauce).

Step 10

Top the final layer with any remaining mozzarella cheese.

Step 11

Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil (be sure to tent the foil slightly to prevent it from sticking to the cheese).

Step 12

Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

Step 13

Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
