Ingredients

  • 1 can (14 ounces) Sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 cup Chopped nuts (optional, e.g. walnuts or pecans)

Directions

Step 1

Line an 8x8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper or aluminum foil, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy removal. Lightly grease the lining with non-stick cooking spray or butter.

Step 2

In a medium-sized, heavy saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and unsalted butter.

Step 3

Place the saucepan over low heat and stir constantly with a wooden spoon or heatproof spatula until the chocolate and butter are fully melted and the mixture is smooth. This should take around 5 minutes. Be careful to keep the heat low to avoid burning the chocolate.

Step 4

Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract, salt, and chopped nuts (if using). Mix until well incorporated.

Step 5

Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly using a spatula.

Step 6

Let the fudge cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, then cover it with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for 2 hours, or until set.

Step 7

Once set, use the parchment or foil overhang to lift the fudge out of the baking dish. Place it on a cutting board and cut it into 16 equal squares.

Step 8

Store the fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Serve chilled or at room temperature for a perfectly creamy texture.
