Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Bananas
  • 1.5 cups Semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 teaspoons Coconut oil
  • 0.25 cup Sprinkles (optional)
  • 0.25 cup Chopped nuts (optional)
  • 0.25 cup Shredded coconut (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Peel the bananas and cut each one in half crosswise. Insert a wooden popsicle stick or skewer into the cut end of each banana half. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 1 hour, or until the bananas are firm.

Step 2

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semisweet chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth. Alternatively, melt the chocolate using a double boiler on the stovetop.

Step 3

Take the frozen bananas out of the freezer. Hold one by the stick and dip it into the melted chocolate, rotating to coat it evenly. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off.

Step 4

While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle the banana with your choice of toppings, such as sprinkles, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut.

Step 5

Place the chocolate-covered banana back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining banana halves.

Step 6

Once all the bananas are coated and topped, return the baking sheet to the freezer. Freeze for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is set.

Step 7

Serve the chocolate-covered bananas straight from the freezer for a cool and refreshing treat. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer for up to a week.
