Ingredients

  • 6 medium-sized Roma tomatoes
  • 0.5 medium-sized Red onion
  • 1 medium-sized Jalapeño pepper
  • 0.5 cup, chopped Cilantro
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 1 large Lime
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon Sugar (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Wash all fresh produce thoroughly under cold water.

Step 2

Dice the Roma tomatoes into small, evenly sized pieces and place them in a medium-sized mixing bowl.

Step 3

Finely chop the red onion and add it to the bowl with the tomatoes.

Step 4

Remove the stem and seeds from the jalapeño pepper for a milder salsa, or leave them if more heat is desired. Finely mince the jalapeño and add it to the bowl.

Step 5

Chop the cilantro finely and add it to the bowl. Measure approximately 0.5 cups (loosely packed).

Step 6

Peel and mince the garlic clove, then add it to the bowl.

Step 7

Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice into the salsa mixture, ensuring no seeds fall in.

Step 8

Season the salsa with salt, black pepper, and sugar (optional, to balance acidity).

Step 9

Mix all the ingredients gently but thoroughly using a spoon or spatula.

Step 10

Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Depending on personal preference, you can add more lime juice or salt to enhance flavor.

Step 11

Let the salsa sit at room temperature for 10–15 minutes to allow flavors to meld, or refrigerate for up to 2 hours for a colder salsa.

Step 12

Serve with tortilla chips or as a topping for your favorite dishes. Enjoy!
