  • 0.25 cup Fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 0.5 cup Water or vegetable stock

Directions

Step 1

Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.

Add the minced garlic and chopped onion, and sauté for 3-4 minutes, or until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.

Stir in the tomato paste, cooking for another 1-2 minutes to caramelize it slightly.
