Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Pita bread
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 cup Tomato sauce
  • 8 ounces Fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 12 leaves Fresh basil leaves
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoons Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and place a large baking sheet or pizza stone inside to heat up.

Step 2

Peel and mince the garlic cloves. In a small bowl, mix the garlic with olive oil to create garlic oil.

Step 3

Place each pita bread on a sheet of parchment paper. Lightly brush the top of each pita with the garlic oil.

Step 4

Spread about 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce evenly over each pita, leaving a small border around the edges.

Step 5

Slice the fresh mozzarella into thin rounds and evenly distribute over the tomato sauce on each pita.

Step 6

Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper on each pita. Sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes for extra heat, if desired.

Carefully transfer the prepared pitas (on the parchment paper) onto the preheated baking sheet or pizza stone.
