Ingredients

  • 4 cups Canned baked beans
  • 8 slices Bacon
  • 1 medium Yellow onion
  • 0.5 cups Ketchup
  • 0.5 cups Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Molasses
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to drain. Once cool, crumble it into bite-sized pieces.

Step 3

Dice the yellow onion. Using the same skillet with the residual bacon fat, sauté the diced onion until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the baked beans, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well combined.

Step 5

Fold the cooked onions and half of the crumbled bacon into the mixture. Stir gently to incorporate.

Step 6

Transfer the bean mixture to a baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Step 7

Sprinkle the remaining crumbled bacon on top for garnish.

Step 8

Bake the beans in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the top is caramelized and bubbly.

Step 9

Remove from the oven and let the beans cool slightly before serving.

Step 10

Serve warm as a side dish with your favorite grilled meats or enjoy as a hearty main course with crusty bread.
