Ingredients

  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 0.25 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup Unsalted butter
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 3.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 Eggs
  • 0.5 cup Brown sugar
  • 1.5 tablespoons Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup Maple syrup
  • 0.25 cup Unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1.5 cups Powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons Heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon Maple extract

Directions

Step 1

Warm the milk in a saucepan or microwave until it reaches about 110°F (lukewarm). Pour it into a large mixing bowl and stir in the sugar until dissolved.

Step 2

Add the butter to the warm milk and stir until melted. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, or until the mixture becomes frothy.

Step 3

In another bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the milk and yeast along with the eggs. Mix until a dough forms.

Step 4

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes or until it becomes smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for about 5 minutes.

Step 5

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

Step 6

While the dough rises, mix the brown sugar and ground cinnamon in a bowl for the filling.

Step 7

Once risen, roll the dough into a 12x18-inch rectangle. Spread the softened butter evenly over the surface, leaving a 1/2-inch border.

Step 8

Drizzle the maple syrup over the butter and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly.

Step 9

Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seams to seal. Cut the log into 12 even pieces.

Step 10

Place the rolls cut-side up in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, leaving a little space between each roll for rising.

Step 11

Cover the dish with a towel and let the rolls rise for an additional 30-40 minutes, or until puffy.

Step 12

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Step 13

While baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, heavy cream, and maple extract in a bowl until smooth.

Step 14

Let the rolls cool slightly before drizzling the maple glaze over the top. Serve warm and enjoy!
