Ingredients

  • 4 medium Apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
  • 1.5 cups Blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 0.25 cups Maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 0.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cups Rolled oats
  • 0.5 cups Brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 cups Unsalted butter (cold and cubed)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick cooking spray and set aside.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, blueberries, maple syrup, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Toss until the fruit is evenly coated, then transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.

Step 3

In another bowl, mix together the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the cubed butter and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

Evenly sprinkle the oat mixture over the fruit in the baking dish, making sure the fruit is completely covered.

Step 5

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling around the edges.

Step 6

Remove the crisp from the oven and let it cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Step 7

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
