Ingredients

  • 2 large Ripe mangoes, peeled and diced
  • 2 medium Ripe pears, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 0.5 cups Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups Water
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh lemon juice
  • 0.25 teaspoons Ground cinnamon (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the diced mangoes, diced pears, granulated sugar, and water.

Step 2

Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir gently to dissolve the sugar.

Step 3

Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. The fruits should soften and release their juices.

Step 4

Once the fruits are soft and slightly broken down, remove the saucepan from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly, about 5 minutes.

Step 5

Transfer the mixture to a blender or use an immersion blender to puree until smooth. For an extra-smooth syrup, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl, gently pressing with a spoon to extract all the liquid.

Step 6

Stir in the fresh lemon juice and optional ground cinnamon for a hint of warmth and enhanced flavor.

Step 7

Return the syrup to the saucepan and simmer for an additional 5 minutes over low heat to thicken slightly.

Step 8

Let the syrup cool to room temperature before transferring it to a clean, airtight jar or bottle.

Step 9

Store the syrup in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Serve it warm or chilled over your favorite foods.
