Ingredients

  • 450 grams beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 0.25 cup mandarin orange juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, sliced into strips
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 medium carrot, julienned
  • 2 stalks green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 2 cups white rice, cooked (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce and cornstarch to form a marinade. Add the thinly sliced beef and toss to coat evenly. Let the beef marinate for 10 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.

Step 2

In a small bowl, whisk together mandarin orange juice, orange zest, minced garlic, grated ginger, and honey to create the stir-fry sauce. Set aside.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the same skillet. Add the red bell pepper, broccoli florets, and julienned carrot. Stir-fry the vegetables for 5-6 minutes until they are slightly tender but still crisp.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to medium and return the beef to the skillet with the cooked vegetables. Pour the prepared stir-fry sauce over the mixture and toss everything together. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the beef and vegetables.

Step 6

Drizzle the sesame oil over the stir fry and give it a final toss. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Step 7

Serve hot over steamed white rice, if desired. Enjoy your Mandarin Beef Stir Fry!
