Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground beef (85% lean)
  • 0.5 pounds Ground pork
  • 1 medium Onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cups Milk
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.25 cups Ketchup (for mixture)
  • 0.5 cups Ketchup (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon Yellow mustard (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a standard loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easier cleanup.

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine the milk and breadcrumbs. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes until the breadcrumbs absorb the milk and become soft.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, add the ground beef, ground pork, diced onion, minced garlic, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, 1/4 cup ketchup, soaked breadcrumbs, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning.

Step 4

Using clean hands or a spoon, mix the ingredients until fully combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in a dense meatloaf.

Step 5

Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan and gently press it down to ensure it is evenly packed.

Step 6

In a small bowl, mix together the glaze ingredients: 1/2 cup ketchup, brown sugar, and yellow mustard. Stir until smooth.

Step 7

Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf, covering the surface completely.

Step 8

Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 9

Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute and makes slicing easier.

Step 10

Slice and serve warm, paired with your favorite sides like mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a green salad.
