Ingredients

  • 2.75 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1.5 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon Milk
  • 0.25 cup Additional granulated sugar (for rolling)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and milk until well combined.

Step 5

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.

Step 6

Scoop out about 1 tablespoon of dough and roll it into a ball using your hands.

Step 7

Roll the dough ball in the additional granulated sugar until fully coated.

Step 8

Place the sugar-coated dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 7-9 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers look slightly underbaked. (They'll continue to bake on the hot baking sheet after being removed from the oven.)

Step 10

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 11

Serve and enjoy! Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
