Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, combine the warm water and granulated sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy and bubbly.

In a small saucepan, warm the milk over low heat until it is lukewarm (about 110°F). Add the butter to the warm milk and stir until melted. Remove from heat.
