Ingredients

  • 1.25 cups warm milk
  • 0.25 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3 eggs
  • 4.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cups unsalted butter (for brushing)
  • 3 tablespoons honey

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.

Step 2

Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the milk mixture and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.

Step 3

Add the melted butter and eggs to the yeast mixture, whisking until well combined.

Step 4

Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing with a spoon or stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, until a soft dough forms.

Step 5

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until it is smooth and elastic.

Step 6

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Step 7

Punch down the dough and divide it into 24 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball and place them on a greased baking sheet or in a 9x13-inch baking pan, slightly spaced apart.

Step 8

Cover the rolls again with a kitchen towel and let them rise for an additional 30-40 minutes, or until they are puffy and nearly doubled in size.

Step 9

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 10

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

Step 11

While the rolls are baking, melt the remaining butter and stir in the honey. Brush the honey butter generously over the hot rolls as soon as they come out of the oven.

Step 12

Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature!
