Ingredients

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts
  • 3 cups Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 stalks Green onions, thinly sliced (optional garnish)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

Trim the ends of the Brussels sprouts and halve them lengthwise. Set them aside.

Step 2

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan or heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat until the oil reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

Step 3

Carefully place the halved Brussels sprouts into the hot oil in small batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 3–4 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.

Step 4

Using a slotted spoon, transfer the fried Brussels sprouts to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Lightly sprinkle with salt while they’re still hot.

Step 5

In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and red chili flakes. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture begins to bubble and slightly thickens (about 2–3 minutes). Remove from heat.

Step 6

Transfer the fried Brussels sprouts to a large mixing bowl. Drizzle the prepared glaze over them and toss well to coat evenly.

Step 7

Plate the glazed Brussels sprouts and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, if desired.

Step 8

Serve immediately and enjoy this crispy and flavor-packed dish!
