Ingredients

  • 200 g elbow macaroni
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 400 g canned diced tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 150 g cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 large eggs
  • 50 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp butter (for greasing)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a loaf pan with butter and set aside.

Step 2

Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 3

In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until fragrant and softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Step 5

Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

In a large bowl, combine the cooked macaroni, the meat mixture, 100g of shredded cheddar cheese, eggs, and breadcrumbs. Mix everything thoroughly.

Transfer the mixture into the greased loaf pan, pressing it down gently to pack it evenly.

Sprinkle the remaining 50g of shredded cheddar cheese on top of the mixture.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5-10 minutes in the pan. Carefully invert the loaf onto a serving platter or cut directly from the pan.
