Ingredients

  • 450 g elbow macaroni
  • 60 g unsalted butter
  • 30 g all-purpose flour
  • 750 ml whole milk
  • 250 g sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 100 g gruyere cheese, shredded
  • 15 g dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 200 g ham, diced
  • 50 g bread crumbs
  • 50 g parmesan cheese, grated
  • 15 ml olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 3

In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the flour and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture is smooth and golden, about 2 minutes.

Gradually whisk in the milk and bring the mixture to a simmer. Cook, whisking frequently, until thickened about 5 minutes.
