Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups Graham cracker crumbs
  • 6 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 6 ounces Semisweet chocolate chips
  • 0.75 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 2.5 cups Whole milk
  • 4 large Egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Whipped cream
  • 2 tablespoons Chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated and resemble wet sand.

Step 3

Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie pan to form the crust.

Step 4

Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, then set it aside to cool completely.

Step 5

In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the semisweet chocolate chips over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Set aside.

Step 6

In a separate bowl, whisk together 3/4 cup sugar, cornstarch, and salt.

Step 7

Gradually add the milk to the sugar mixture, whisking until smooth and free of lumps.

Step 8

Whisk in the egg yolks until fully combined.

Step 9

Pour the mixture into a medium saucepan and cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until it thickens and begins to bubble (about 7-10 minutes).

Step 10

Remove the saucepan from heat and whisk in the melted chocolate and vanilla extract until smooth.

Step 11

Pour the chocolate custard filling into the cooled pie crust and smooth the top with a spatula.

Step 12

Refrigerate the pie for at least 4 hours, or until firm.

Step 13

Before serving, top the pie with whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings, if desired.

Step 14

Slice and serve chilled.
