Ingredients

  • 250 grams Ground chicken or pork (lean)
  • 1 cup Green cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1 medium Carrot, grated
  • 2 Spring onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 20 Wonton wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons Water (for sealing wrappers)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken or pork, shredded cabbage, grated carrot, chopped spring onions, minced garlic, and minced ginger.

Step 2

Add the low sodium soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and cornstarch to the bowl. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.

Step 3

Prepare a clean work surface and lay out the wonton wrappers. Keep them covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying out while assembling.

Step 4

Place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each wrapper. Dip your fingertip in water and lightly moisten the edges of the wrapper.

Step 5

Fold the wrapper over the filling to form a half-moon shape or bring the edges together at the top to form a dumpling. Pinch to seal tightly.

Step 6

Prepare a steamer by bringing water to a boil and lining the steamer basket with parchment paper or cabbage leaves to prevent sticking.

Step 7

Place the dim sims in the steamer basket, ensuring they are not touching each other. Cover with a lid and steam for 10-12 minutes, or until the filling is cooked through.

Step 8

Serve the steamed dim sims immediately with your favorite low sodium dipping sauce or enjoy plain.
