Ingredients

  • 300 grams Ground pork
  • 100 grams Shrimp
  • 2 stalks Green onions
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 20 pieces Wonton wrappers
  • 50 grams Water chestnuts
  • 0.5 teaspoon White pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 1 cup Low-sodium chicken broth (for steaming)

Directions

Step 1

Start by finely chopping the shrimp into small pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.

Step 2

Mince the green onions, ginger, and garlic, then add them to the bowl with the shrimp.

Step 3

Chop the water chestnuts finely and add them to the mixing bowl.

Step 4

Add the ground pork to the mixture in the bowl.

Step 5

Season the mixture with low-sodium soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and white pepper. Mix well using your hands or a spoon.

Step 6

Sprinkle the cornstarch over the mixture and continue to mix until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Step 7

Lay a wonton wrapper flat on a clean surface, place about a tablespoon of filling in the center of the wrapper.

Step 8

Gather the edges of the wonton wrapper up and around the filling, making sure to leave the top open. Press gently to form a dumpling shape but ensure the base is flat.

Step 9

Repeat the process with the remaining wonton wrappers and filling.

Step 10

Prepare a steamer by adding low-sodium chicken broth to the pot, ensuring the liquid level is below the steamer basket.

Step 11

Place the dumplings in the steamer, making sure they do not touch each other.

Step 12

Cover and steam over medium heat for about 12-15 minutes or until the filling is cooked through.

Step 13

Serve the siumai immediately, accompanied by a low-sodium dipping sauce or a side of vegetables, if desired.
